THE MAKING OF A BICHON - "Sammy"

This is Sammy as he showed up a month ago, April 2005. He is probably a bichon/poodle mix, adopted by one of my very good bichon customers from Small Paws Rescue in Arizona. The way the head and ears were done by the previous groomer, Sammy had a more poodle look.

The Bichon "look" is all in the ears/eyes/head shape. Here is Sammy after that first groom.

Much more bichonly, thank you. Mom almost cried when she saw him. We still have a little way to go.

After the second grooming, a month later, we are closer yet. Standing is not this little guy's favorite thing, but we are beginning to see some shaping. The tail is well, poodley. This is what I call a "bunny tail", where there is no stem, just a little round puff.

What a difference!

This scissored groom was accomplished with 10" Arius Eickert Slimline straight shears for the topline (top of back), down the front and the legs; AE "Fang II" 8" curved shears for the head and body; AE 5.5" Proline shears for eyes, face, feet and tail. These shears can be viewed and purchased from http://www.bbird.biz. Trust me, the right shears make a huge difference in the result. Thanks for your support.
