INTRODUCING MARS FLEXY KING BRUSH

Don't you love new grooming stuff? There's a new brush on the scene called the Mars Flexy King. It's made in Germany by the same company that makes the original Coat Kings. The Flexy King is a slicker style brush with a VERY flexible head. Here's a photo that illustrates the range of movement of the brush pad. It's so flexible that it needs a little "brake" behind the head.

The pins are long, fully bent and rather stiff, which makes the brush good for tackling tangles, while the flexible head keeps the groomer from applying too much pressure. It is the pressure that causes accidental abrasion or "brush burn." This combination of stiffness and flexibility makes the Flexy King an excellent choice for working on tangles in tender areas such as doggie armpits, flanks, inside rear legs, and faces.

The brush is well tolerated by sensitive pets. Certain Bichons Frise, who shall remain unnamed to protect their precious egos, and who have been known to act foolish and quite dramatic over the simple act of brushing out the tender areas listed above, have found this tool considerably less objectionable than other choices. This makes the Mars Flexy King a valuable addition to the groomer's tool box.

Groomers who have been using the Les Poochs brushes will notice the resemblance in the style of the Flexy King. Here's a photo of the two brushes together.
Mat Zapper & Flexy
The Les Poochs brush pictured is the "Mat Zapper". While I would not go so far as to say that the Flexy King brush can replace the Mat Zapper or the Les Poochs brushes, the Flexy King seems to do much of the same work, and it is probably a safer choice for the inexperienced groomer.

The handle on the Mars Flexy King is very easy on my old groomer hand. My old hands are starting to give me more grief than my Bichon Frise. Owie, owie, owie! The Flexy King is light and comfortable. I find myself reaching for it again and again. I had to buy a second one because my new assistant was borrowing mine so often I could not keep it on my table.

Okay, here's the sales pitch: You can purchase your Mars Flexy King from the Birdie Shopping Cart and support the Groomblog (and the Groomblogger). Only $28.99. Click here to go there!

2016 UPDATE.  Hello again!  The Mars Flexy King has a new feature which I appreciate - coated tips.  These are not the same as the common ball tips, and do not break the coated tips do not break the coat as do many ball tipped brushes.  This upgrade solves the only thing problem that I had with the original Flexy King, having rough tips on the pins.  The new Flexy King is even more coat and pet friendly.
