Here are a few pictures of Sophie, an Australian Terrier we recently hand stripped at Transformation Pet Center, Tucson, Arizona. Sophie was first groomed about six weeks earlier. She was presented in a very overgrown, bushy state. On that visit, we focused on the jacket, and getting the face under control. On this visit, she was again very bushy, and we concentrated on the neck "ruff", shoulders and head.
This is one hairy terrier! After nearly two hours of hand plucking, there was still more to go. With hand stripping, there almost always seems as though you could go on and on. In the pet salon, we almost always have to pick a point where we say, "good enough".
This side view of the head shows the clean ear and neck ruff characteristic of the breed. While this is by no means a show groom, we think it captures the Aussie "look" quite well.

I love the shorter groom anyway. it is maintainable
